Refund Policy

When The Elyria Fence Company installs a fence, railing or garden structure at your property we follow the drawing on your contract. We will not work on your project without a signed contract. On the left side of your contract you will see a detailed description of all materials that will be used in the construction of your fence, railing, arbor, pergola, trellis or latticework. The height of the fence, the style of fencing, spacing between boards, etc. are detailed here. In the center there will be a drawing of where the fence or structure will be placed in relation to your home and garage. Footages are listed here as well. Our company relies on the homeowner and business owner to thoroughly review all of these details prior to signing their contract. Our office orders materials based off of these exact details after the contract has been signed. Our installers have a copy of the contract that was signed, and the fence, railing or garden structure are installed per the signed contract. If changes are made after materials are ordered we will accommodate those changes to required materials, but there are extra costs for the changes in material that need to be applied. Changes can be made to layouts and footages, but if the changes are made after we begin the installation then extra costs are added to the project to accommodate those changes. Once the project is installed it becomes part of the property. If a homeowner chooses to not pay for the project we are limited in how we can collect the funds after the fact. Therefore, we collect all completed projects on completion. We do not carry accounts. There are no refunds because the fence, railing, or garden structures are custom built per the customer's request, and cannot be returned or refunded. We rely on the homeowner to know where their property lines are. If they do not know where their property lines are we rely on the homeowner to hire a surveyor to locate those lines for the homeowner. If a homeowner is unable to hire a surveyor and unable to locate their property lines then we ask that the homeowner sign off on the location of the new fence that they have requested to be installed. If at a later date the fence is found to be on a neighbor's property it is the financial responsibility of the homeowner to pay to relocate their fence. We rely on the homeowner to inform us as to the existence and location of ALL privately owned utility lines. These lines could be (but not limited to) underground gas lines for a fire pit, fireplace, or grill. These lines might also be underground lines for a pool or detached garage. Sprinkler systems and exterior lighting are also commonly found customer owned lines. These types of lines are not located by OUPS. We don't know they're there if the homeowner doesn't tell us in advance. Our company needs to hire a private locator to locate these lines for the customer. If we damage any customer owned lines it is the responsibility of the property owner to cover those repairs to the line.

If a customer chooses to cancel their contract with us we will refund the deposit provided that materials have not been ordered for the project. For the most part, wood fences and chain link fences can be refunded (less the permit fee). Ornamental aluminum fencing, railings, and vinyl fences cannot be refunded once the material has been ordered.
